Attracting Customers Organically on Social Media (So You Can Travel More!)
Perhaps you have a business and you want to figure out how to put your money towards your next travel destination instead of ad spend. Or perhaps you’re struggling to get more clients in general.
Do you use social media to find customers? Perhaps you’ve done some research and have heard some of the following advice:
- Post daily on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
- Post content relevant to your business
- Grow your followers
- Update your profile
- Pick a niche
- Setup a business page
- Make a group!
- Do more this…
- Do more that…
The advice above works really well if you know what you’re doing. If not, it can be pretty damn frustrating. I have generated clients online using organic methods and spent $0 on advertising. Impressive, right?
The reason why the experts recommend you do these things is because social media is an amazing way to get people to organically “meet” you and develop a first impression. After your first impression, you can earn their trust. There are literally billions of people on Facebook. How many do you think could be your customer?
But how do you turn them into customers, you ask?
What we need to understand that social media is a great way to find customers because people are willingly staring at content all day long. How many times do you open Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or even Reddit?
Developing a bulletproof customer acquisition plan (on social media) means that you will need to become an absolute ninja and strategically deconstruct who, where and what your customers want, when they want it. You want to make your online profile stick like velcro so that customers can align themselves with you and what you have to offer.
With 20 years of experience in web design, UX and also having launched several tech startups, I must stress that flexible and agile when it comes to discovering WHO & WHAT your customer wants is crucial.
Herein lies the beauty of developing a solid customer research & acquisition plan. Using your platform of choice, you can:
Use social media *regularly* to practice getting comfortable with your online VOICE, MESSAGING & BRANDING
A/B test your posts, live videos and content to ANALYZE what people are actively responding to and engaging with
Conduct customer and keyword RESEARCH by looking at what people are commenting on (as it relates to your business)
Go into FB groups where your ideal customers are and TALK to them
Most importantly, talk is free!! Use this as a means to ATTRACT, INQUIRE and ACQUIRE.
Develop a PRESENCE among real people without ever leaving your home or office
Your social media profile is your “banner ad”. The closer you can understand and get comfortable with yourself as the face of the business, your product(s) and your ideal customers, the easier it becomes to attract new buyers. The more you practice your voice, speaking to them using the right messaging, branding, language and tone, the easier it gets.
If you are already communicating with people on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or other platforms, chances are you are already talking to some of your ideal customers. You just need to close the gap and help them understand who you are and what you have to offer.
Does that make sense? Let me know what you think and how social media has helped you grow your business and let you travel more!
